If you have ever been to Bali then you may know Sanur area. In my sight this is the oldest developed area. Place at the east side of Bali island in long bay with calm sea (for it is facing to Selat Bali, sea between Bali and Lombok island). It’s been full developed at the beach around 5 kilometres length from Sanur beach-Sindhu beach-Semawang beach, with hotel, restaurant and café, and villas.
The government built pedestrian along the boundary between private land and the beach. So everybody could walk and enjoy every facility for public at the beach. The sea at Sanur beach is calm, not like Kuta. Here you could play kano-small ship with stick to swing- or playing jet-ski. Mostly domestic tourist visit Sanur beach at weekend because it’s safe to play in the water even for child.
The highest hotel in Bali, Grand Bali Beach Hotel, is in Sanur, exactly at Sanur beach. They provide the beach with white sand (actually Sanur area covered with white sand) and maintain it for beach-volleyball field. It’s free for public. Of course who is first there will be the first ones to use the field.
You also find many traditional fish ships park at Sanur area. That’s why you will see full of color ships march in line at Sanur area from Sanur beach to Semawang beach.
After the beach from the sea is private area, those I said before the area that full developed of hotel, restaurant and café, and villas. Actually there are some location are not developed yet, some exactly next to the beach, some are not. The average land price here between IDR 200 million – IDR 300 million per ARE (= 100sqm, see my other article about METRIC EQUIVALENT)
These private areas placed between beach pedestrian and Sanur main street, it’s called Danau Tamblingan street. Here you will find the entrance of the hotel, villas, spa, café, and also many art shops, public facility like bank, money changer, restaurant, super market, traditional market, overseas architect firm, property agent, international school, etc. The environment here is more quite than Kuta or other location in Bali. That’s why many retired expatriate choose Sanur as retirement residence. You are still at the beach but not far from public facility.
You know that many countries choose Sanur as the location their consulate office such as Germany, Czech, Swiss, Austria, and others. Again this is because Sanur is more quite than other location. Good for living and good for business.
Next to Sanur main street is private area and then South main road of Bali -Bypass Ngurah Rai. This is road to airport and other location at the south of Bali Island such as Kuta, Nusa Dua, Jimbaran. Sanur is around 10-15 minutes to the airport.
So what to wait to overview Sanur when you go to Bali?
